Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church for Lonnie Johnston Williams, 63, Spur school custodian.Rev. Chester Sassman, Perrin, formerly of Spur, officiated assisted by Rev. Lee Hollis, Lubbock.
Mr. Williams died about 8:30 p.m. Monday night in Spur Memorial Hospital. Born in August, 1900, Mr. Williams came to Dickens County in 1919 where he resided in the Red Hill community. He had lived in Spur since March of 1960. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ms. Pauline Williams; six daughters, Mrs. Moody Wilson, Monahans; Mrs. Archie Mayfield, New Braunfels; Mrs. Buddy Robertson, Monahans; Mrs. Melba Sue Hagar, Seminole; Ms. Bob Gallager, Girard; Mrs. Beth Slaughter, Seminole; and one son, L.J., Lubbock; five brothers, Willie, Spur; Gay, Abilene; B.T., Paducah; A.C. Longervile; Jack, Spur; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Corbin, Ft. Worth; Mrs. Mattie Chrombs, Cal.; and Mrs. Lela Jackson, Dalhart; 21 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Burial was in the Spur Cemetery.
