Pat Williams

U.S.Flag   Pat Williams, “Dr. Pat” to his many patients and friends died peacefully on March 01, 2009 in Pryor , Oklahoma at the age of 85 years and 5 days. He was born in Spur, Texas on February 24, 1924 to Helen Grace and B.G. Williams. He was raised by his mother, grandmother and loving family of aunts, uncles and cousins during the Great Depression. At age ten, he served as a page in the Texas Senate in Austin . He graduated from Spur High School in 1942 and spent one year at Texas A&M where he played in the Aggie Dance Band. During this time, the band did a soundtrack for a movie. Pat found music to play wherever he lived. He was especially proud of the tenor saxophone his mother bought for him in 1940. He then joined the Army Air Corps where he became a B-17 pilot flying missions out of Mendlesham , England . He married Beth Arthur in 1945 and had six children from that union. After leaving the service, he entered the University of Texas and, after completing his pre-med requirements, entered Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he graduated in 1954. He practiced family medicine 47 years providing care to people in West Texas and Pryor , Oklahoma . He married Mary Lou Gwartney in 1977 in San Antonio , Texas . He loved traveling and playing golf with Mary Lou, playing his saxophone for friends and family, and good horses. His wit and sparkle will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, and children, Greg and Connie Williams of Tulsa, OK; Gayle and Currey Freeman of Denton, TX; Ray and Patrice Williams of Pryor, OK; Joe and Patsy Williams of Amarillo, TX; Kurt and Charla Gwartney of Choctaw, OK, Kristi and Mark Ozbun of Claremore, OK; Thirteen grandchildren, Ryan Williams of Tulsa, OK, Megan and Eric Linn of Collinsville, OK, Sarah and Paul West of Tulsa, OK, Kent and Kate Freeman of Highland Village, TX, Reid and Emily Freeman of Keller TX, Brianna and Matthew Smith of Albuquerque, NM, Allie and Matthew Eischer of Westminster, CO, Thomas Williams of Pryor, OK, Kelley and Jeromy Henderson of Amarillo, TX, Kacie Williams of Siloam Springs, AR, Elizabeth Gwartney of Choctaw, OK, Pate Motter of Fayetteville, AR, Blane Ozbun of Claremore, OK. Seven great grandchildren; Paige and Maggie Linn, Walker West, Connor, Colin and Maddox Freeman and Ella Smith. He is also survived by a host of friends. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann; a son, Donald and a grandson Braydn Ozbun.
