Charles Pinkney Witt purchased 160 acres of farm land in 1923 from Fern Self in Kalgary area. He married Eddythe Morris originally of Hico, June 30, 1923. Children born of this union were Mildred Juanita in 1924. Bertha Charlene in 1929 and Edgar Wayne in 1930.
In the following years Charles purchased acreage in Crosby and Garza counties in the Kalgary area. The family lived in a two-room house where Charles and Eddythe hosted many community parties. They also were active in church and participated in local civic activities.
Many remember the local dramas staged at Kalgary school where Eddythe frequently played opposite Merton Fisher. These plays were so popular that they were often staged in other communities. Charles served as a school trustee many years and also on the boards of directors of REA, Federal Land Bank and Soil Conservation.
Mildred, Charlene and Edgar attended school in Kalgary and Crosbyton. Mildred married W.T. Scott, had two children and made her home at Kalgary. Charlene married John Rucker, had three children and made her home in Idalou. Edgar married Colleen Kirkland, had three children and made his home in Post. Charles retired from farming in 1957 and moved to Spur where he died in 1973, Eddythe died in 1975.

Charles Pinkney Witt of Spur died about 12;40 p.m. Sunday in Crosbyton hospital following a lengthy illness. A Kalgary Community resident from 1919 until 1959, Mr. Witt was 72.Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Spur with the Rev. Norris Taylor, pastor, officiating. The Rev. B.G. Kendrick of Idalou assisted.
The retired farmer was buried in Spur Cemetery.
A past director of the Dickens County REA Federal land Bank and the Soil Conservation Service, and a longtime school trustee at Kalgary, Witt was a member of the Baptist Church and of the Masonic Lodge.
Born in McClellan County, he was married June 3, 1929 to Eddythe Morris at Kalgary. The couple moved to Spur in '59.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Edgar Witt of Post; two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Scott of Kalgary and Mrs. Charlene Rucker of Idalou; five brothers, H.E. Witt of Spur, Lawrence Witt of Crosbyton; four sisters, Mrs. Ruby Love of spur, Mrs. Estelle Mays of Lubbock, Mrs. Novella Smith of Ardmore, Okla., and Mrs. Dorothea Drennan of Morton; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Eddythe (Morris) Witt, 68, were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Spur. Rev. Norris Taylor, church pastor, officiating.Mrs. Witt died June 1 in the Crosbyton Hospital. She had been a resident of Dickens County since 1918 and was a member of Eastern Star; Bluebonnet Club; Senior citizens organization and WMU church club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Scott, Kalgary and Mrs. Charlene Ruckner, Idalou; one son, Edgar Witt, Post; three sisters, Mabel Middleton, Crosbyton; Louise Hill, Lubbock and Esta Rhea Schaefer, Lubbock; Six brothers, Herma L. Morris, McAdoo; Hubert Morris, Lubbock; Melborn Morris, Childress; Loyd Morris, Kermit; J.H. Morris, Wolfforth and G.B. Morris, Crosbyton, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Burial was in Spur Cemetery.
