Anderson and Maggie Brumbelow Wood moved to Spur in Feb. 1945, from their ranch home in Kent. Co. Mr. and Mrs. Wood and their only son, Horace, brought the property in 1924. It was a part of the early day 24 Ranch owned by the Boley Brown family.Anderson Wood born Nov. 18, 1871 in Blanco Co., Texas was the son of Texas pioneers. His grandparents, Thomas Wood and his wife Sarah Person came to Texas in ox carts from Indiana in 1832. They received land grants in Nacogdoches County and when Texas became a state moved to the Austin area. Their son, William P. Wood served in Texas State Troops, Company B. Mounted Frontier Regiment under Col. James N. Norris during the Civil War. These Texas State Troops guarded the Texas frontier against the Indians during and following the Civil War. He enlisted at Camp Verde in 1962 at the time the camels were being used there.
Mr. and Mrs. A. Wood were married in Bel Co. March 5, 1895. Maggie Wood was the daughter of John Brumbelow and Mattie Elizabeth Jones. She was born Aug. 1, 1879. The A. Wood family moved westward and their son Horace Brumbelow was born Nov. 27, 1904 in Paint Rock, Concho Co. Later they moved to Fisher Co. where Horace grew up and attended Rotan Schools.
In Spur, Mr. and Mrs. A. Wood were members of the Church of Christ. They were buried in Spur Cemetery; Andy in 1952 and Maggie in 1962.

Anderson Wood
Funeral services were held for Anderson Wood, 80, at the Spur Church of Christ at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 6, 1952, with Willis G. Jernigan officiating., assisted by Rev. Cal C. Wright and C.V. Allen.Wood was born Nov. 18, 1871, and died May 4, 1952.
Interment was in the Spur cemetery.
Wood was married to Maggie Brumebelow March 6, and moved to Kent county, in 1924. Th this union one son was born, Horace Wood of Spur, who with his mother, survives his father.
Other survivors include three grandchildren: Margaret, Beverly and Priscilla Wood of Spur and two sisters, Mrs. T.S. Beall of Cooper Cove, and Effie Cannon of Girard.
Wood was engaged in the business of farming and ranching. He was an active member of the Church of Christ for more than 60 years and had been affiliated with the Woodman's Lodge for more than 45 years.

Maggie Wood
Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Ione Wood, 82, were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W.D. McReynolds officiating. Assisting was Dell Young, minister of Steel Hill Church of Christ.Mrs. Wood died at Popular Grove Convalescent Home in Lubbock Monday. She had resided in Lubbock about 8 months. She was born in Bell county and married Anderson Wood in Nolanville, Texas in 1895. She lived in Kent county from 1924 to 1945., and in Spur from 1945 to 1961. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Horace Wood, Lubbock, formerly of Spur; three granddaughters, Margaret Brannan, Rochester, MN; Beverly Krieger, Salt Lake City, UT and Priscilla Wood, Lubbock.
Interment was in the Spur cemetery.
