Services for Earl Ray Wootan, 76, were held Monday, November 7, at 1 p.m. at graveside in Spur Memorial Cemetery. Rev. Bruce Parks, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiated.Wootan died November 5, about 3:45 a.m. in the Crosbyton Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born April 5, 1912 in Proctor, he had been a resident of Spur since 1947. He had been retired the past 15 years, but was an equipment operator with Dickens Electric for some time.
He married on March 10, 1935 in Jayton; his wife, Alma Ware Wootan, died on January 11, 1976. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Edward and Joe Wayne Wootan, both of Lubbock; Vernon Wootan, Grand Prairie; one brother, John Wootan, Haskell; a sister, Sidney Trafton, Odessa; six grandchildren.
Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home.
