Services for James Ray Wright, 68, Spur were at 2 p.m. April 125, 1989 in the First Baptist Church. Dr. Genoa Goad officiated.Burial was in Spur Memorial Cemetery under direction of Campbell Funeral Home, Spur.
Wright died about 1 a.m. on April 13, 1989 in St. Mary of the Plains Hospital, Lubbock, following a lengthy illness. He was born June 17, 1920 in Lamesa. He married Dorothy Moore in Lamesa on December 14, 1944. He had been a resident of Spur since 1946.
He was executive vice president and general manager of Cap Rock Telephone. He announced his retirement in March f this year after 39 years with the phone company. He was past president of the National Telephone Cooperative Assn. and served as a director for a three state region for many years.
A 1944 graduate of Texas Tech, he served in the Army during World War II. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, past president and charter member of the Spur Lions Club; Chamber of Commerce and was also past president of the Spur Golf Club. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Wright, Spur; two sons, Elvis and Joe Wright, both of Lubbock; two sisters, Nell Blair, Lamesa and Clovis Bodine, Ackerly; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Dorothy Lucille Wright, 70, of Lubbock, were Sunday, December 27, 1998, in the Spur Memorial Cemetery, Eric Swenson, Jr. officiated. Burial was under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home of Spur.Mrs. Wright was born February 27, 1928 in Lamesa. She graduated from Lamesa High School. She married James Ray Wright December 14, 1944 in Lamesa. he preceded her in death April 13, 1989. They moved to Spur in the mid 1940's where she was a bookkeeper for Wright Electric. she was an investor and a member of several civic clubs. She was a member of First Baptist church of Spur.
Survivors include two sons, Joe Wright and Elvis Wright, both of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.
