My family that I am researching is the Keeney family. My grandfather came to Erath County in about 1901 from Ellis County. I can't find out anything about his parents but he shows on his poll tax that he was born in Texas. He told the family he came from Ellis County. He was born abt 1868 and died in 1930. I am looking for his parents. He was related to the Forgay, McDowell, Henderson, and Defoor families. Maybe someone will know this family. |

My uncle says the girl on the left is Mary Catherine Keeney Pierce. She was born about 1866 and died in 1939. I can find her marriage and death but not birth. He thinks the other two girls would be her sisters: Martha Ann Keeney Harris Henderson Defoor and Rosie Keeney McDowell. Martha died about 1910 but I don't know where. Rosie died in 1903 in Erath County but her death records don't tell about her parents. This has become a real puzzle for me trying to find their parents. I did go to Ellis County but was new to find information and didn't come up with anything. My grandfather did own land in Ellis County in 1896 but I could find him on any 1880 or 1900 census. |

These are also photos that I have and they weren't labeled. I am sure there are family. The families I am researching would be the Keeney, Pierce, McDowell and Henderson. I hope someone will recognize some of these people. Thanks for helping. Also my grandfather James Fate Keeney was in Ellis Co. from 1893 to 1900. I found only where purchased land. So these photos would be about that date. |
