CHARLEY DAVID STONE & FAMILY

Charley David Stone was the eldest child of Abner Miller and Dony Taylor Stone. He was born on December 12, 1890 at Blevins, Falls County, Texas. He and his family moved to West Station, Texas and lived there a while but returned to Blevins. He was schooled at Blevins and the Bedichek Academy at Eddy, Texas. He attended a Jr. College near West (Station), Texas. In 1910 he married Lella May Bowers, daughter of Robert Russell and Georgia Standridge Bowers who also lived at Blevins. The newly married couple was leased farm land by his father and furnished a house to live in.

In 1921, Abner Miller Stone died, and at this time Dony Taylor Stone, the widow moved, to Temple, Texas with her underage children. Charley and his family moved into the A. M. Stone home place where they lived until 1938 when the Stone estate was divided. Charley and family moved to land he owned down the road from the Blevins store and near Indian Creek. It had been the old Spivey place. He farmed and ranched all of his days in the Blevins Community. Charley and Lella Bowers Stone had five children who all lived to maturity. He passed away May 28, 1958.

Wedding Picture of Charley and Lella Stone

May 30, 1910 was the date of the wedding of Charley Stone and Lella Bowers. They were married at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Georgia Bowers. This picture was made the next day.

The groom and bride are on the far right in the picture. I do not know who the others are. If anyone can identify them I would appreciate being able to add their names to the picture.

Her father, Robert Russell Bowers was deceased when she was but 12 years old.
