- Lossie Franklin
Bone - was born May 14, 1945
and joined the Armed Forces while in Marlin, Texas. He served as a 64B20
in the Army. In 1 year of service, he attained the rank of SP4/E4.
On February 20, 1970, at the age of 24, LOSSIE FRANKLIN BONE perished in
the service of our country in South Vietnam, Binh Dinh Province.

- Roy Lee Greensage - was born on April 20, 1947 and joined the

service of our country in South Vietnam, Binh Dinh Province.

- James D. Moore - was born on June 11, 1939 and joined the Armed Forces while in
Marlin, Texas. He served in the Air Force, Battalion 553RD

On April 25, 1969, at the age of 29, JAMES D. MOORE perished in the
service of our country in Thailand, Quang Tri Province.

- Aaron Lee Smith - was born on October 30, 1944 and joined the
Armed Forces in Marlin, Texas. He served as a 11B20 in the Army. In 1 year

service of our country in South Vietnam, Binh Duong Province.

- Teddy James Tomchesson - was born on August 18, 1929 and joined the
Armed Forces while in Marlin, Texas. He served in the Air Force. In 14

service
of our country in South Vietnam, Pleiku.

- Sherman Ray Waites - was born on May 8, 1947 and joined the Armed
Forces while in Marlin, Texas. He served as a 0311 in the Marine Corps. In
1 year of service, he attained the rank of PFC/E2.
On July 2, 1967, at the age of 20, SHERMAN RAY WAITES perished in the
service of our
country in South Vietnam, Quang Tri Province.

On July 1, 1980, Congress
authorized a site in Constitution Gardens near the Lincoln Memorial for
the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. 1,421 design entries were submitted. On May
1, 1981, the jury
selected the work of Maya Ying Lin of Athens, Ohio, who at the time was a
21 year old student at
Yale University. Ground was formally broken on March 26, 1981. The
Memorial was dedicated on
November 13, 1982. On its polished, black granite surface are the
chronological names of 58,209
servicemen inscribed by their date of casualty.
