SHERIFF JOHN GREER
RETURNS FROM LOUISIANA
AFTER SECURING PRISONER
~~~~~
Sheriff John Greer recently returned from Louisiana where he went to secure
Nathan Marshall, a negro who was wanted in the Indian Territory for theft of a
bale of cotton. Sheriff Greer had arrested the negro and placed him in
the Marlin jail some time ago and a Territory officer came down after
him. On his way back the negro made his escape and the Territory officer
posted a reward of $50 or his recapture. Sheriff Greer located the negro
in Louisiana and after getting him turned him over to the Territory officer at
Greenville, Texas, receiving the reward.
