VIRGIL M. WILLIAMS

 

 

     Virgil M. Williams, b May 24, 1845 in Mississippi, d March 31, 1925 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery in Falls County, Texas - was married first to Harriett Brown, b 1851 in Mississippi - a daughter of Waller L. and Harriett Virginia (McKinley) Brown who moved to Texas in December 1852, settling in Falls County. By this marriage, Virgil and Harriett were the parents of four children:

     James W. Williams - married Ada Johnson and had Icy Williams who married Lee Gaugh; Eula Williams who married J. R. Lansford; Hattie Williams who married Earl Laxson; Clara Williams who married Clayton Hightower; Altha Williams who married Newton Lloyd; and Leland Williams.

     Billy Lee Williams - married Ollie Matthews and had Elmo ("Jack") Williams who married Myrtle Price and had Cecil, Ruby, Willie, and Elmo Williams, Jr.; Willie Williams died in her teens; Maudie Williams died in her teens; and Virgie Williams died in her teens.

     Ophelia Williams - married Wallace Moore and had Arlie Moore who married Agnes Hetherington; Bernice Moore who married Vaulton M. Davis; Lela Moore who married Charles B. Vinson; and Hamilton Moore who married Ethel Mecke.

     Virgil T. Williams-who married Beulah Parsons and had Macon G. Williams who died in infancy; Weldon Williams; Elizabeth Williams who married Ralph Ritcherson and had Jerry Ritcheson; and Virgil T. Williams, Jr. who married Rita Goodner and had Tim Williams.

     Virgil M. Williams married secondly to a widow, Mrs. Martha ("Mattie" Barclay) O'Brien, b October 23, 1859 at Blue Ridge, d May 31, 1958 and both buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery in Falls County - a daughter of William Alexander and Mary P. (Long) Barclay. Virgil M. and Mattie had eight children:

     Mary Williams, b October 16, 1887, d May 22, 1972 - married John Crowell- no further information.

     Exar Williams, b March 2, 1890, d July 2, 1953 - married William L. Martin, b August 2, 1880, d September 27, 1921 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery - no further information.

     Millard Fillmore Williams, b April 17, 1892, d December 18, 1952 - married Beulah Mae Drake, b October 14, 1896, d February 8, 1975, and both buried in Calvary Cemetery in Marlin, Texas.

     Marshall Williams, b ca 1894 - no further information.

     LaVerne Williams, b November 2,1896, d August 28, 1983 in Dumas, Texas - married December 24, 1916 to Ira J. V. Mitchell, b April 9, 1882, d 1952 - a son of Charles Oliver and Martha A. Blan of Blue Ridge, Falls County, Texas. They were the parents of ten children.

     Clifton C. Williams, b 1900, d 1973 - married Iona Pearl (maiden name unknown), b 1902, date of death illegible on tombstone, and both buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery. No further information.

     Clyde B. Williams, b December 24, 1902, d January 27, 1972 - married Reva V. Pamplin, b December 24, 1902, d January 27, 1972 and both buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery. Reva was a daughter of Reuben Alexander and Bertha (Magee) Pamplin.

     Lucille Williams, b March 30, 1905, died as a teenager December 6, 1921 and buried in Mustang Prairie Cemetery.
