Ruby W. Herrington

 

 

     Ruby W. Herrington, 92, of Cego, passed away Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at a local hospital. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Dr., in Waco, with pastor Preston Clegg of the Bruceville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be at Cego Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Pecan Grove Funeral Home.

     She was born May 12, 1914, in Hill County, to John B. and Ida Tyler Wood, the second of eight children of which five have preceded her in death. In September of 1933, she married Alford Ben Herrington, they moved to Falls County. She and her husband worked side by side on their farm. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1976. She also worked and retired from Cox Department store. She was a member of Bruceville Baptist Church.

     Ruby is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann and husband, Alvin Maricle of Eddy; grandson, Dale Maricle and wife, Robyn Maricle of Eddy; granddaughter, Judy Goble and husband, Charley Goble of Eddy; two great-grandsons, Alan Maricle and Aaron Maricle of Eddy; sisters, Juanita McClurkan of Waxahachie, Edith Calhoon of Pineville, La.; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

     Pallbearers will be James Jones, Clayton Herrington, Tim Marlow, Doug Watson, Don Calhoon, and Jackie Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Edward Herrington, Larry Marlow.
