Bessie Lancaster
Services for Bessie Lancaster, 86, of Temple will be at 2 p.m.
Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home with the Rev. Ernest Thompson and Rev.
Ron Winsman officiating. Burial will be in Cego Cemetery in Cego.
She died Friday, March 14, in a Temple nursing home.
She was born in Cego to Carl and Jennie McKee Pace. She
graduated from Southwest Texas in 1936 and taught in public schools for 44
years. She taught in Reagan, Marlin, Moody and Temple at Jefferson and Western Hills
elementaries. She was a member of the Texas State Teachers' Association and
Retired Teachers' Association. She was recognized as Teacher of the Year in
1979 and 1980. She taught Sunday school at Immanuel Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, David Hardcastle of Denver, Colo.,
and John K. Lancaster of Troy; a daughter, Jenna Palmer of Troy; a brother,
Harvey Pace of Moody; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
