History of the Philadelphia Church &
It's Ministers

'From my records, Philadelphia Church was constituted November 19, 1887 by Elders T.S. Dalton, W.H. Harrell, S.W. Webb (my GGG grandfather), W.B. Sikes, P.D. Ausmus, G.W. Burnes, J.W. Cavnar and J.W. Ray, with the following members: Mary Shelton, Elder J.G. Webb and wife (my GG grandparents), L.K. Webb, W.J. Majors, and J.W. Segler.  Elder J.G. Webb was called to the care of the church when constituted.  Elder Webb served the church from its constitution until September, 1894, when he was dismissed by letter and Elder M.L. barrett was chosen, who served the church until October 1898, when Elder W.B. Sikes was chosen and served the church until December 1900 when he was dismissed by letter.  In 1901, Elder Barrett was called again.'
Elder S.W. Webb (1823-1893)
He is buried in Collin County.

Elder J.G. Webb (1849-1927) is pictured here.

'He is buried in Bonham (Willow Wild).  J.G. Webb was editor of the Baptist Trumpet which he published while living in Tioga and in Bonham.'

'My Great Grandfather, Elder T.L. Webb, Sr (1874-1954),  was ordained at either Harmony Church (Arledge Ridge) or Old Philadelphia 26 Apr 1902 by J.W. Herriage, J.G. Webb (his father), J.W. Segler, R.C. Taylor, M.L. Barrett, P.D. Ausmus and Willie Barrett.'

'Elder T.L. Webb, Sr (1874-1954), He is pictured here along with his wife Eula Henderson Webb(1872-1903).  Eula is buried at Gober Cemetery.  This picture was taken near the time of his ordination.  His wife Eula died shortly thereafter of TB.  Their only son, Eugene Elbert Webb (1899-1990) is my grandfather.'

'T.L. is buried in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee.'

'I feel a strong connection with Old Philadelphia Church, Gober and Bonham for these reasons and I saddened at the loss of the building.'
