Leonard First Baptist Church

This church was organized in 1875 and first known as the Thomas Glade Baptist Church . It was NW of the Present Leonard and was located in the Thomas Glade School house. Valley Creek was the Post office for the area. This church was a member of the Sister Grove Baptist Association until 1886 and then joined the Fannin County Baptist Association.
In 1882 the schoolhouse was moved into Leonard and the Church moved into it in Leonard. Their first building was built in 1887 and it took on the name of First Baptist Church of Leonard. In 1904 the above building was built to house the expanding church.
