FLORENCE SMITH
   Services for Mrs. Florence Groves Smith, 82, of Dodd City, Rt 1, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 14, 1976, at Wise Funeral chapel with the Rev. Bob Bush, First United Methodist minister, and the Rev. Bill Grisham of Leonard, officiating.  Burial was in Grove Hill cemetery.
   Mr. Smith died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Fairview Nursing home.
   Born in Grove Hill June 19, 1893 daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fergus Groves she was a homemaker and a member of the Grove Hill United Methodist Church.
   Dec. 13, 1976, Mr. and Mr. Smith had been married 64 years.  Their
children were reared in Elliville near Breckenridge.  The couple moved back to Fannin county after their retirement in 1944.  They had lived in the Lannus community for 23 years.
   Surviving are her husband, three daughters, one brother, four sisters, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  (Researcher's note:  Florence Groves married Oscar L. Smith on December 13, 1911.  Her mother was Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" Blanton.  Her maternal grandparents were George Washington Blanton and Rebecca Lavina Cox. )
