was  a son of William Trigg Woodruff and his first wife, Mary Jane McCaslin.

Woodruff born Aug 1792 Virginia, and his first unknown wife. Robert served War
of 1812, his lengthy pension is posted on the Rutherford Co, Tn (county)
website.    John Wilson's wife was LIZZIE Woodruff born 9 Jul 1853 died 30 Nov
1916. Some of the other Woodruffs in this cemetery were likely children or
relatives of this couple. John and Lizzie left Rutherford Co, Tn and arrived
in Fannin Co area before 1900.
    CAUTION should be used when researching this John Wilson Woodruff since
he had a cousin by exactly the same name 'John Wilson Woodruff', the son of
James Thomas Woodruff and wife Lucretia (Ring). James was the son of Robert
W. Woodruff born 1792 and his first unknown wife. This other 'John Wilson
Woodruff' was born 11 May 1866 in Rutherford Co, Tn died April 1930
Whitewright, Grayson Co, Tx, his wife was Mary Eliza Bowman (my grand
parents).  John and Mary Eliza did not arrive in this area of Texas until
1903 and at times, lived not far from his cousin by same name (above).

actually named 'Louisa Tennessee Woodruff' (called Tennie). She was the
daughter of James Thomas Woodruff and wife Lucretia Ring.
     Tennie married James W. Gregory born 13 Feb 1855 Tn, who died 25 Mar
1927. Have more on their descendants.
