Reuben W. Wyatt, was born Aug 02, 1808 in Tennessee and died Dec 26, 1884 in Fannin Co., Texas. He first married Mary (wife of Reuben) Watt. who was born Mar 1812 in North Carolina, and died Nov 09, 1868 in Fannie Co., Texas. Reuben then married his second wide Sarah E. Weaver on Jan 07, 1870 in Fannin Co., Texas. Sarah was born 1833.Reuben W. Wyatt was born in Tennessee, and his wife Mary was born in North Carolina. By 1850 they had moved to Desoto Co., Mississippi, and were living east of Arkabutla, Mississippi. Reuben and Mary had eleven children: (1) William; (2) James; (3) Rachal; (4) Nancy; (5) Martha; (6) Reuben; (7) Susan; (8) Anne E.; (9) John W.; (10) George Washington; & (11) Texas Adeline.
Sometime between 1858 and 1870, Reuben moved his family into Fannin Co., Texas. Mary died there in November of 1868, and was buried in the old Bettes Cemetery northwest of Ivanhoe, in Fannin Co. Reuben then married Sarah E. Weever in February of 1870, but no children resulted from this marriage. Reuben passed away in December of 1884, and was also buried in the old Bettes Cemetery. Throughout his life, Reuben was a very successful farmer, at times owning large tracts of land.
My first cousin, Michael Andrew Grissom of Wynnewood, Oklahoma, has the original marriage certificate for Sarah E. Weaver and Reuben W. Wyatt. They were married on January 7, 1870:
§ by Caleb Rooker, "a local elder of the Methodist Episcopal Church South" -- or as a 90-year-old friend of mine said her mother used to say, the Methodist Episcopal Church SOUTH!
§ I. R. Dupuy was the Fannin County Clerk,
§ and the certificate was signed by his deputy, J. R. Carter.
The certificate was given to Mike, along with Grandma and Grandpa McRae's and Mama and Papa Burkes's. They said no one had ever picked up the originals, and seeing as I was the next of kin they gave them to me! I have them in archival sheets.
