| Forney
as a Hay Town |
| As a hay town we venture to say that
Forney has no equal anywhere in the state. Last year there was in operation in
this section forty seven hay presses and most of the hay was stored in town and
shipped from here, there was 962 cars shipped from here. There are this year inside
of the corporate limites, twenty two hay barns ranging in size from 50x100 to
75x150 feet. The Forney hay has gained a reputation all over the state and has
turned down all other classes of forage that it has been placed in competition
with, and men who began dealing in Forney hay who were then comparatively poor,
are now our most prosperous and wealthy citizens. The prospects for the hay crop
this year are very good, but there will not be as large a crop as there was last
year. |
