COLLINS, Dennis Michael. Former Dallas resident. Died in Bonham, Texas early Saturday. Survived by two sisters, Betty Atwill, Lubbock, Mary Margaret McCusker, Omaha, NE & other relatives. Rosary will be recited at the Anderson Clayton Chapel in Terrell at 7:00 p.m. Monday. Funeral Mass 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, St. Martins Catholic Church at Talty, Father Carl Bogel [sic] Celebrant. Dennis M. Collins, former resident of the Talty community, died in the VA Hospital in Bonham, Texas early Saturday morning. Rosary was recited at the Anderson-Clayton Chapel in Terrell at 7:00 P.M. Monday. Funeral Mass was at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church at Talty with Father Carl Vogel as celebrant. Interment will be in Oakland Memorial Park in Terrell. Dennis Michael Collins, a son of the late Dennis Collins and Elizabeth O'Connor Collins, was born in Kaufman County, Texas on February 3, 1912. He grew up in the Talty commuity and was graduated from the public schools of Forney, and from St. Edwards University in Austin. He served in the U.S. Marines in World War II, was wounded in the service in the South Pacific and returned to Dallas following his discharge. He was a resident there for twenty five years before moving to Bonham seven years ago. He was a member of the Catholic Mission in Bonham and the VFW. Surviving him are: two sister, Betty Atwill of Lubbock and Mary Margaret McCusker of Omaha, Nebraska; a number of nieces and newphews; cousins and other relatives. |
