W.A.J. Hilton Passed Away Tuesday |

William A.J. Hilton, age 87, passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Taylor, Tuesday morning after a long illness. Funeral services were held in Tennessee Colony near Palestine Wednesday at 11:00 o'clock. Mr. Hilton was born in Lanster, South Carolina, Jan. 20, 1852, coming to Texas in 1785 (sic), settling near Palestine. Later he moved to Terrell. For the past nine years he has made his home in Forney with his daughter. He has been a member of the Baptist Church since early childhood. Mr. Hilton has also been a member of the Masonic lodge fifty-five years. The Masons had charge of the services at the cemetery. Evans, Riverpark, California; Mrs. M.G. Armstrong, Dallas; Will Hilton,
Jackson, Sam and Amon Hilton, Terrell; Mrs. Bud Dixon, Durant, Oklahoma
and Mrs. John Taylor of Forney. |
