By the 1930's Broad Street (Old US 80) had become known as "Filling Station Row" because so many gas stations had popped up along the road. One of these service stations and restaurants was called "The Pink Elephant," and was a popular teenage hang-out during the 1930's and 1940's. During the 1940's it was enlarged and remodeled. Unfortunately, the Pink Elephant no longer exists, exept in the hearts and memories of long-time residents of Forney. |
