Wallace W. "Billy" Hill

PAMPA - Wallace W. "Billy" Hill, 69, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with Bright Newhouse, minister of Heldey Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon.

Mr. Hill was born Oct. 6, 1933, in Clarendon where he resided until moving to Claude in 1977. He moved from Claude to Pampa in 1981. He had worked at various places throughout his life before his retirement. He was a member of Clarendon Church of Christ.

Honorary pallbearers include Bob Kidd, Edwin Campbell, Benton Wauer, Tommy Hodnet and Clyde Barker.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelly Downing and husband, Jeff, of Dumas; and a grandson, Sheldon Downing of Dumas.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice of Amarillo.

Willis Davidson "Buddy" Price Jr.

PAMPA - Willis Davidson "Buddy" Price Jr., 75, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Novian, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Price was born April 30, 1928, in Pampa. He was a graduate of Pampa High School and attended Texas Tech University. He married Ida Ruth Taylor on July 7, 1951, in Pampa. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Everyman's Bible Class. Mr. Price spent his lifetime ranching northwest of Pampa, and his legacy will live on through the family and friends that survive him.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Bagby and husband, Stan, of Jacksonville, Fla., and Jane Paul and husband, Larry, of Carlsbad, N.M.; a son, Willis Price III and wife, Carolyn, of Midland; eight grandchildren, Jennifer Bagby of Fayetteville, N.C., Beth Whitehill and husband, Josh, of Jacksonville, Taylor Paul, Allen Paul and Ben Paul, all of Carlsbad, Ryan Price of The Woodlands, Page Price of College Station and Laura Price of Midland; four sisters, Mary Patterson, Harriett Dublin and husband, John, and Margaret Cowden and husband, Courtney, all of Midland, and Martha Smith and husband, Vester, of Higgins.

Lillie "Ms. Lillie" Williams

PAMPA- Lillie lMs. Lillien Williams, 89, died Monday, Sept. 1, 2003.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Raymond McKeever, pastor of the St. Markms CME Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Williams, was born Oct. 6, 1913, in Bastrop. She married Jerry Williams in 1968 in Pampa.

Survivors include many friends including Rudolph Harris of Pampa.

Jewel Chapman

PAMPA - Jewel Chapman, 88, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Cornerstone Baptist Church in Pampa with the Rev. Paul Nachtigall, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery of Wheeler by Wright Funeral Home.

Mrs. Chapman was born to Burnice and Martha Grimes Caswell on April 15, 1915, in Sunset. She was a longtime resident of Wheeler until she moved to pampa in 1968. She was a beautician in Pampa for many years. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Pampa.

She was preceded in death by a son, Billy Chapman, and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Tootie Nickell of Pampa; a brother, Howard Caswell of Sayre, Okla.; a sister, Neta Young of Pampa; two grandchildren, Joe Nickell and wife, Dixie, and Oddie Nickell; and two great-grandchildren, Kory and Kenzi Nickell.

Ann Arthaud

PAMPA - Ann Arthaud, 61, died Friday, Aug. 29, 2003.
Graveside services will be in Mutual, Okla., on Saturday with the Rev. Keith Fortner officiating. Family and close friends will meet at First Christian Church in Mutual at 10 a.m. and drive to Dunlap Cemetery together.

Ann was born in Woodward, Okla., and grew up near Vici, Okla., on her family farm. She graduated from Vici High School in 1960.

Ann attended cosmetology school in Enid, Okla., and lived in Woodward until she married Clifford Schwab in 1969. She was married and lived in Higgins for almost 32 years.

Ann retired from a successful career as a cosmetologist to focus on her children. She was a devoted and loving mother who actively involved in her children's lives and the Higgins community. She lived in Pampa for the last two years of her life.

Ann was a member of First Christian Church in Mutual, where she became a Christian at an early age. She was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Higgins and later attended Church of the Nazarene in Higgins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Grace and Myron Arthaud.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Christopher Schwab of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Brandi Weinette of Stanton; a grandson, Tristan Weinette; two brothers, Alvin Arthaud of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Gary Arthaud of Seiling, Okla.; and numerous cousins and devoted friends.

The family suggests memorials be to one of three churches Ann attended during her life, First Christian Church, Mutual, OK 73853; First United Methodist Church, Higgins; or Church of the Nazarene, Higgins, 79046.

MCLEAN - Troy West, 50, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ben Corbitt, pastor of Faith Tabernacle in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors.

Mr. West was born Dec. 16, 1952, in McLean. He married Evonda Smith on April 23, 1974, in McLean.

Survivors include his wife; his mother, Anita West of Tuttle, Okla.; two sons, Hoyt West of McLean and Brandon West of Clarksville, Tenn.; two daughters, Rachael West and Stephanie West, both of McLean; three brothers, Billy Christie of Louisiana, Leslie West of Pampa and Benny West of Tuttle; two sisters, Janie Ciotti of Tuttle and Jodean Widman of Bridgecreek, Okla.; and nine grandchildren.

William Orville Franklin

PAMPA - William Orville Franklin, 89, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Scott Penrod, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery in Groom.

Mr. Franklin worked for Dorchester Gas Co. for 35 years, retiring as chief operator in 1978. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Pampa.

Survivors include his wife, Mae Louise; a daughter, Sue Young of Lubbock; three sons, Darrel K. Franklin and Jerry D. Franklin, both of Pampa, and David O. Franklin of Amarillo; two sisters, Virginia Vance of Oklahoma City and Cleo Nix of Groom; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

PAMPA - John Albert Newhouse, 76, died Friday, Sept. 5, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Hancock, pastor of Briarwood Full Gospel Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with Masonic graveside rites by Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF&AM.

Mr. Newhouse was born Sept. 16, 1926, in San Antonio. He married Grace Gowin on May 7, 1965, in Pampa.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Sharron Newhouse of Houston; four brothers, Paul Newhouse of Mountain View, Ark., Jimmy Newhouse of Cibolo, Charles Newhouse of Fountain, Fla., and David Newhouse of Northridge, Calif.; a sister, Anna Newhouse of Spring Valley, N.Y.; and a grandson.

PAMPA- L.B. "Bun" Reeves, 94, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2003.

Mr. Reeves moved to Pampa in 1932. He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

Gertrude "Trudy" Kelley

PAMPA - Gertrude "Trudy" Kelley, 74, died Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Mark's CME Church with the Rev. Raymond McKeever, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Kelley was a nurse's aide and a live-in caretaker for Fannie Mathers. She was a member of St. Mark's CME Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Jessie Samuel of Pampa and Ethel Williams of Midland; two sons, Louston Samuel and Bennie Samuel, both of Pampa; four sisters, Mattie Alexander and Ora Green, both of Plainview, Vacy Hamilton of Clovis, N.M., and Elnora Bishop of Terrell; three brothers, R.L. Mary Helen Ellis

PAMPA - Mary Helen Ellis, 83, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, in Amarillo.
Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in St. Matthew's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Jacob Clemmens officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mrs. Ellis was born May 15, 1920, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Ernest Bateman Black and Faye Bunyan Black. She attended Miss Crosby's School, Mills College and graduated from University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

She was a member of Junior League of Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Ellis earned a teaching certificate from West Texas State University and taught English in the Pampa School District for more than 20 years. She touched the lives of many people through her years of teaching and service to the community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Laird Ellis, a longtime employee of Celanese Chemical Co., in 1994.

Survivors include three sons, William Laird Ellis Jr. and wife, Jan, of McKinney, Ernest Black Ellis and wife, Cindy, of Littleton, Colo., and Robert Winslow Ellis and wife, Allyson, of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Ernest Black Ellis Jr. and Emma Lynn Ellis; and a sister, Mrs. Nelson E. Smyth of Santa Fe, N.M.

PAMPA - Billy George Clements, 76, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors, Colonial Chapel, with Dr. Edwin Cooley, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Clements was employed in commercial and residential real estate for 30 years in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving as a pharmacist's mate during World War II.

Survivors include a son, Rob Clements of Carlsbad, N.M.; a sister, Bobbye Downs of Pampa; and twin granddaughters.

PAMPA - Thomas Irby Loter, 93, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Steve Porter, elder and Primitive Baptist minister, and Lester Lynch of Freewill Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Loter farmed in Childress and Hale County until 1976 when he retired and moved to Pampa. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.

Survivors include his wife, Pauline; two daughters, Eloise Dowlen and Merilyn Howell, both of Pampa; two sons, Ronnie Loter and Lonnie Loter, both of Pampa; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

PAMPA - Miguel Arturo Baca Jr., 20, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003.

Mr. Baca was born Dec. 5, 1982, in Chihuahua, Mexico, and had been a resident of Pampa for three years. He married Lucero Varela on May 9, 2003, in El Paso. He worked for Service Drilling Co. He was a Catholic. May he rest in peace.

Survivors include his wife; his father, Miguel Arturo Baca of Pampa; his mother, Dolores Garcia of Chihuahua, Mexico; two brothers, Osbaldo Baca and Ramiro Baca, both of Pampa; and two uncles.

PAMPA - Robert "Bob" Ellison, 68, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in Amarillo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. Elijah Demerson of Emmanuel Church of God in Christ in Amarillo, and Patrick Demmer officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Ellison retired from Pampa Independent School District in 1995 after 23 years of service. He was a veteran of the Army, serving in the Korean conflict.

MCLEAN - James "Jim" Alfred Pauley, 74, died Friday, Sept. 19, 2003.

Mr. Pauley was born Feb. 18, 1929, in Concordia, Kan. He was a diaryman for Charlie Gerald in Randall County for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Vera; three daughters, Pat Pattiani of Las Vegas, Enola Nichols of Amarillo and Amanda Crawford of McLean; four sons, Ronald Pauley of Las Vegas, Alton Allen of Ralls, Terry Allen of Apache Junction, Ariz., and James Pauley of Amarillo; a sister, Jolean Strut of Moreland, Kan.; a brother, Gail Lynn Pauley of California; 20 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

PAMPA - R.A. "Bake" Baker, 97, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003.

Mr. Baker was born Oct. 20, 1905, in Amarillo. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1927, and was a member of Association of Former Students. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1935. He married Velma Brecheen on April 7, 1934, in Amarillo. He was a vice-president of Cabot Corp. in Pampa, retiring after 29 years of service. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Amarillo.

He was preceded in death by his wife on July 17, 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Kay House of Carmel, Calif.; a son, Jay Baker of California; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Baker of California; four grandsons, Brad Dick of Rome, Italy, Evan Dick of California, Christopher Baker of Colorado and Tom Morris of New Mexico; a granddaughter, Melinda Ryan of Colorado; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Huffhines had been a lifelong resident of Pampa, graduating from Pampa High School. She was a member of Lighthouse Covenant Fellowship Church.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; three daughters, Vanessia Vick and Valorey Foreman, both of Pampa, and Valinda Adams of McDonough, Ga.; a brother, Billy Lee Martin of Houston; and eight grandchildren.

PAMPA - Jess Samuel Haynes, 70, died Friday, Sept. 26, 2003.

Mr. Haynes served in the Army during the Korean conflict. He owned and operated Haynes Engine Service in Hobbs, N.M., retiring in 1997.

Mr. Tucker was a lifelong resident of Pampa. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict.

Survivors include his wife, Betty; three daughters, Sharyn Bailey of Pantego, Carole Wisdom of Carlsbad, Calif., and Pandora Gargus of Spiro, Okla.; two sons, Dan Tucker of Pampa and Randy Tucker of W. Windsor, N.J.; two brothers, Denver Tucker of Pampa and Dale Tucker of Mabelvale, Ark.; a sister, Bernadine Middleton of Friendswood; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The family suggests memorials be to St. Paul United Methodist Church, 511 N. Hobart St., Pampa, TX 79065; or Pampa Meals on Wheels, P.O. Box 939, Pampa, TX 79066-0939.
