This courthouse ( shown still unfinished) was the one built in 1876. Very quickly they planted  trees and it was quite elegant. The sidewalks were criss-crossed under the trees and benches everywhere. It had a large green area, more so than it does today. This beautiful courthouse was the scene of one of Grayson County's' darkest days.   The election card of Jake Loy depicts the first courthouse & the early days of the one that is now in use.
