Summary of Last Year's Unnatural Deaths
Over Which Justice Hinkle Has Held Inquests
The recent sad occurences which took place a few miles south of the
city brings to mind the following unnatural deaths which have taken place
within the jurisdiction of the coroner during the years ending March 1st,
1887.
Talby King, col., died of heart disease, March 19th, 1880.
Levi Lancaster, suicided by poison, April 21st, 1886.
Barnaby Swathout, suicided by shooting himself, May 3rd, 1886.
Minnie Miller, burned to death, June 27th, 1886.
Mary Miller, burned to death, June 27th, 1886.
Phillip Akers, (col.) accidental shooting, July 8, 1886.
Lum Edwards (col.) died of heart disease, July 31, 1886.
Lola Brown, suicided by shooting herself, Aug. 13th, 1886.
Sam Brown, colored, suicided by shooting himself, Aug. 15th, 1886
Dona Hess, suicided by taking laudanum, Aug. 16th, 1886.
T.B. Felton, died in Jones street jail, Sept. 17th, 1886.
Frank Reich, suicided by shooting himself, Nov. 8th, 1886.
E. Hernstadt, died of heart disease, Nov. 16th, 1886.
Richard Lambert, suicided by poison, Dec. 25th, 1886.
Ben Jackson, colored, accidental shooting, Jan. 13th, 1887.
A.C. Smith, died of heart disease, Jan. 26th, 1887.
