DENISON- Rosa Etna Dixon, 88, passed away on Friday, Feb.
12, 2010 in Omaha, Neb.
Family night will be from 7 -8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2010 at
Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison.
Services for Rosa will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010
at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Nichols officiating. Graveside
services will be held at Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park,
5805 Texoma Parkway, Sherman.
Pallbearers will be David Holcomb, Dennis Baecht, Bobby Baecht,
Jimmy Baecht, Mike Baecht and John Baecht.
Rosa was born on Oct. 28, 1921 in Grafton, Ill., the daughter of
Clarence A. Baecht and Alice Myrl Gowins. She moved with her family from
Illinois to Texas in the early 1940s, where she met and married Edward
L. "Pete" Dixon in 1945. She lived in Denison until 2005, when she moved
to Omaha, Neb. because of health reasons.
She was a member of Waples United Methodist Church in Denison. In
1949 Rosie began working as a clerk at S. & H. Kress, five and dime
store, where she worked her way up to store manager in 1971, the position
she held when the store closed in 1974. After taking a few years off to
enjoy her granddaughter, she began working at Walmart in April 1977 and
continued to work there until 1995 when she retired. She was a dedicated
Yellow Jackets fan and had season tickets for more than 40 years.
She is survived by son William E. Dixon and wife Betty of Springfield,
Neb.; granddaughter Deborah Lachner and husband Seth of Papillion, Neb.;
great-grandchildren Nathan and Kalista Lachner of Papillion, Neb.; brother
Robert Baecht of Denison; and sister Nancy Richard of Denison.
She was preceded in death by her husband Pete; brothers Clarence
L. "Buddy" Baecht, Charles Baecht, Joseph A. "Tony" Baecht; and sisters
Alice Holcomb and Jesse Hawkins.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher
Funeral Home.
