DENISON - Lorena Tallant Gilliam left this earth peacefully to be with
her Lord and Savior on Dec. 25, 2009. She was born May 22, 1911. She was
98 years old. She married Monroe Stanley Gilliam on Sept. 17, 1932 in Denison.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Her husband
Monroe Stanley Gilliam, two sons Wendall and Bobby Gilliam, twin sister
Leona Couch, sister, Buelah Floyd and Alma Jane McClure, brothers Willie,
Charlie and George Tallant.
Mrs. Gilliam was a member of Eastern Star and had received her 50
year pin. She enjoyed being a volunteer as a Pink Lady for TMC hospital
for several years. She was a member of Price Memorial Methodist Church.
She moved to Palestine in 2002 to live with her youngest son, Bobby and
wife, Joann. In 2007 she became a resident of Trinity Care Nursing facility
in Bridgeport.
Surviving relatives are Donna Jean Gilliam, daughter-in-law; grandsons
David and wife, Iva Gilliam; Donald Joe and wife, Sherry Gilliam all of
Oklahoma; daughter-in-law Joann Gilliam and grandchildren, Kevin and Marion
Gilliam of Alvord; Kenneth Gilliam of Ft. Worth; Cheryl and David Besherse
of Denison; Cindy and Bobby Torres of McKinney and Keith and Cynd Gilliam
of Denison.
She had quite a legacy of 12 great-grandchildren and 13 great-greatgrandchildren.
Visitation services for Mrs. Gilliam will be from noon -1 p.m. on
Tuesday, Dec. 29 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison,
with services following. The Rev. Jim Patrick will officiate. Interment
will be at Cedarlawn Memorial Park following the service. Pallbearers will
be grandsons Brian, Kev, Brannon, Kevin, Kenneth and Keith.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher
Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison.
