Ex-Sherman Resident
Dies at Arlington
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in Dannel
Chapel for Mrs. Esther A. Adair, 76, former Sherman resident who died at
5:10 p.m. Friday in Arlington. She was a San Antonio resident.
Dr. Tom Brandon, pastor of the First Baptist Church,
will be the conducting minister. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Memorial
Park. Pallbearers will be Leonard Hall, Joe Hall, J.I. Moneoy, J.
Hope Gray, Thurman Wallace and Locket Adair, all nephews of Mrs. Adair.
Mrs. Adair was born May 10, 1889, in Kaufman County,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Hall, and was married to the late Henry
B. Adair. She and her husband came to Sherman from Commerce in 1945
and operated a furniture store on the south side of the square. They
moved to San Antonio in 1954.
She was a member of North Side Baptist Church in San
Antonio.
Survivors are a son, Ivan J. Adair of San Antonio; a
daughter, Mrs. Hazel Lumpkins of Arlington; and two granddaughters, Mrs.
Comelia Black and Miss Janice Lee Adair, both of San Antonio.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m.
Sunday.
