Carl Hazelwood - Carl Hazelwood of Brownwood died Friday at Brownwood
Regional Hospital after a one-month illness. He was a former Sherman
and Sadler-Southmayde area resident.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Austin
Avenue Church of Christ in Brownwood with Bill Richardson and Buck Hale
officiating.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Christian Chapel
Cemetery east of Sadler. Morelock Funeral Home of Borwnwood is in charge
of arrangements. Local arrangements will be by Dannel and Horton
Funeral Home.
Mr. Hazelwood was born northeast of Sadler, a son of Willie C. and
zora Inez Souther Hazelwood. He attended Southmayd and Sherman schools
and married Mildred Louise Jones May 25, 1940, in Sherman.
A retired butcher, he was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World
War II and was stationed at Hickam Field in Hawaii during the bombing of
Pearl Harbor. He was an elder of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ
in Brownwood.
Surviving are his wife; son, Chris Hazelwood of Brownwood; and brother,
Ernest R. Hazelwood of Albuquerque, N.M.
