Woodmen of the World

Woodmen of World Building
201 West Woodard Street
Denison, Texas.

The Old Woodmen of the World Building, northwest corner of Austin Avenue and Woodard Street.
In 1972, it was destroyed by fire. At that time the ground floor was occupied by Chris Waltz Plumbing.
Woodmen of the World was founded in 1890 in Omaha, Nebraska, and the Denison “camp" was
organized in 1891.  Offering its members aid in times of need, the WOW is noted for  distinctive
tombstones depicting tree stumps that the organization erected nationwide prior to 1930.

The old Woodman of the World building goes down in flames. It was on what is now the vacant lot east of the post office.
Notice the Mobil sign Service Station at the time, on what is now the Chase Bank parking lot.
