Donald William Cranfill, 82, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010
at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born Oct. 18, 1927 in Southmayd, the son of the late Essie
Thompson Cranfill and Roma Cranfill. A veteran of WWII he served in the
U.S. Army. Don worked in transportation the majority of his life
as an executive in the Houston area for numerous companies. Outside
of work, he loved to hunt and fish and spend time at the "hunting camp".
"Cap", as he was called was known to cook for employee outings,
as well as for his family and friends. He was an endowed member of
the Masonic Lodge 571 Scottish Rite thirty-second degree. He was
also an avid contributor to his local police and fire associations and
the Shriners.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marshall
Cranfill. He leaves behind his loving family, devoted wife of 60
years Dorotha Cranfill of Liberty, son Gary Granfill and wife Barbara of
Fredericksburg, Va., daughters Linda Cooksey and husband Charles of Whitesboro,
Sandra McAdams and husband Jesse of Baytown. In addition, he leaves
five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Don will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, April 23, 2010 at
Allison Funeral Service, 1101 N. Travis Liberty. A graveside service
will be held 1 p.m. Saturday in Dixie Cemetery , Hwy 377 N. in Dixie,
his son Rev. Gary Cranfill to officiate.
