Retired Farmer, 'suicide by shooting self' other causes unknown,
at his home, shot with pistol.
He was born in Ohio, son of J.W. Bowers , born also in Ohio and
Ann Burton, born in Virginia.

Gunshot Wound Victim Buried at Whitesboro.
Special to The News-Sherman,Texas, May 31.-Funeral services were
held Wednesday afternoon at the Whitesboro Baptist Church for J.W. Bowers,
71, found dead near his home in Whitesboro with a gunshot wound through
his heart. Burial was in the Dyer (sic)Cemetery . Justice C.L. Simpson,
Whitesboro, announced a coroner's verdict of death by self inflicted gunshot
wound. A pistol with an empty shell was found in the grass near the body.
Born in Ohio, after his marriage in his native state, he came to
Texas and had lived in Grayson County since, most of the time in the Whitesboro
community. After his first wife died he married a Grayson County woman
who died about three years ago. On July 31, 1938, he was married to a Mrs.
S.F. Aiken of Whitesboro and had lived in Whitesboro since.
