Services for James Michael "Mike" Thompson,
a Denison attorney, will be held on Thursday, November 20, 1997 at 2 o'clock
p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Denison, Texas. Burial
will be at Fairview Cemetery, Denison, Texas. Dr. Ron Cunningham
and Mark Salmon will officiate. Bratcher Funeral Home is in charge
Mr. Thompson was born March 27, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, son of Ina
Jo and J.B.Thompson. He died on November 17, 1997, in Dallas after
undergoing lung transplant surgery.
Mr. Thompson graduated from Monterey High School in Lubbock, Texas
in 1959. Mr. Thompson attended Texas Tech University and graduated
from Baylor Law School in 1964. He was admitted to the State Bar
in 1964, and practiced in Denison, Texas for the last 25 years. He
was board certified in civil trial, family and personal injury law and
concentrated his practice in those areas.
Mr. Thompson was certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the American
Trial Lawyers, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, North Texas Trial Lawyers
Association. the Grayson County Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas.
In addition to his professional association, Mr. Thompson was a
member of the Grayson County Rotary, past president and director of the
Denison Girls Club, a past officer and director of the Grayson County Shelter,
Grayson County Child Welfare Board, Grayson County Rehabilitation Center,
and House of Hope.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his daughters, Tamra Holden of Dallas
and Paige Furst of Denison and two sons, James Dustin Thompson and Cody
Michael Thompson of Iowa Park, Texas. He is also survived by his parents,
Jo and J.B.Thompsn of Denison, and his sister Mary Thompson Walker of Denison;
four grandchildren, Colman Furst and Brooke Furst of Denison and Hanna
Holden and Madeline Holen of Dallas, His is also survived by his
Pallbearers will be Billy Coburn, E.C.Green, Phillip Shaffer, Don
Herd, Roger Sanders, Gene Kincaid, John Clark and Marvin Banduch.
Honorary pallbearers are Judge James Fry, Judge Ray Grisham, Judge Rim
Nall, Judge Kenneth Daniels and Judge Don Jarvis.
Family night will be held at Bratcher's Funeral Home on Wednesday
evening from 6 to 7 p.m. All other times, the family will be at 1611
West Heron or at the Furst home on 630 DeLeon, Denison.
