DENISON -- Funeral for Mrs. Velma Ackert, 56, of 1409 West Crawford
who died this morning in her home, will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at
Bratcher
Chapel. Rev. B. C. Robertson will conduct the service, Burial
will
be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mrs. Ackert was born in Tishomingo, Oct. 8,
1924, a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Shaw. She attended Tishomingo High School
and
Wilson N. Jones Nurses School and married Dr. Joe Ackert June 18, 1946
in Denison. She was employed as a registered nurse, and was a
member
of Waples Methodist Church and the Texas Nurses Association.
Survivors are her husband; and two sisters,
Mrs. Thelma Brady, and
Mrs. Berta Beckham, Lancaster.
The family will be at the Ackert home.
Pallbearers will be Fred Hahnel, Neilson
Rogers, Russell Oden, Robert
Bailey, Mike Brady, Dr. Frank Little and Dr. Stanley Clayton.

Services for Dr. Joseph W. Ackert, 65, of Denison, who
died Saturday in Texoma Medical Center, were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday
in
Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel.
Rev. Tom Peel officiated, with burial in
Fairview Cemetery.Mr. Ackert
was born in Missouri, the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Wilson Ackert, and
married
Velma Shaw June 18, 1946. He was a member of Waples United
Methodist
Church and American Medical Association.
He served in the Army Medical Corps in Korea
and graduated from
Baylor Medical School in Dallas and San Jose College in San Jose, Calif.
Surviving are two sisters-in-law.
Pallbearers were Dr. W. S. Fry, Russell
Oden, Dr. Stanley Clayton,
Dr. W. Doak Blassingame, Tom Hilton and Jim Woodruff.
