Funeral for Veteran Denison Doctor Set DENISON, Texas, March 2, - Funeral services for Dr. A. A. Blassingame,
68, prominent Denison physician for almost thirty-five years, who died
Monday in a Dallas hospital, will be held Wednesday afternoon at the First
Christian Church with the Rev. Ben F. Hearn, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Dr. Blassingame born three miles west of Van Alstyne, was the son
of the late Mr. and Mrs. John D. Blassingame, Grayson County pioneers.
In 1902 he married Miss Myrtle Dean at Sherman where he was a physician
six years before coming to Denison.
After graduating from Columbia College at Van Alstyne he attended
the medical branch of the University of Texas. He also took specialized
training for eye, ear, nose and throat treatment in Chicago and New York.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Dr. Doak W. Blassingame, both of
Denison; two brothers, Jack Blassingame of Sherman and James S. Blassingame
of Van Alstyne; five sisters, Mrs. T.L.Frame of Sherman, Mrs. J.W.Bounds
of Gunter, Mrs. James Veazey, Mrs. S.H.Bryan and Mrs. Clifford Douglas,
all of Van Alstyne and two grandchildren. |
