Sherman, Texas  - Jess Odom  , 59 year old cook, died Sunday at a local hospital from injuries he received Saturday when he stepped into the path of a slow - moving police Sherman police Car at the Highway 11 underpass north of Sherman.
Funeral services are to be held at the Barrett Funeral Chapel.
Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery.
Odom was born and reared in Sherman.
He is survived by four brothers, Clyde and Joe Odom, Sherman and John Odom and Fred Odom, Denison, and two sisters, Mrs. Burl Ferguson and Mrs. M.L. Gibbs, Sherman.

His death cert. gives us more details. born 1898, died 16 Jun 1957. He was white , single and a cook in Sherman. Born in Sherman, son of Charles Odom & Kate Roland. 
He died of myocardial insufficency and pulmonary edema 8 hours.
Intercranial inury, severe, 21 hours. compound fractures . He died at Wilson N. Jones Hosp. He lived in rural route #2 Denison.
