Franklin Lee Rider, Jr., 85, of Sherman, passed away on
July 29, 2010, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ. Dannel Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with The Reverend
Martin Yost officiating, assisted by The Reverend Paul Rider. Interment
will follow in Friendship Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral home
Tuesday, August 3, 2010 5-7 p.m.
Frank was born in San Diego, on March 16, 1925, to Franklin Lee and
Edith Hairgrove Rider. He was educated in the public schools of Boling.
Frank was active in the Boy Scouts of America and attained the rank of
Eagle Scout. He went to Texas A&M and earned a degree in entomology.
During WWII, he served in the U.S. Navy. He married Pollyanna Gill on Dec.
6, 1952 in Dallas.
Frank was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, where he served
on the Vestry and as Senior Warden. Being very active in the community,
he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and was a member of Habitat for Humanity,
the Noon Lions Club, and the Entomological Society of America.
Predeceased by his parents, his wife, brother, Alvin Richard Rider,
and sister, Mary Ann Roades, Frank is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Louise
Rider of Dallas; two sons: Roger Lee Rider of Sherman and The Reverend
Paul Gill Rider of Minneapolis, Minn.; a granddaughter, Kirstine Michelle
Fuller; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mark Beardsley, Willie Green, Edward Owens,
Mack Broiles, Jerry Fillebrown, and Clyde Keen.

Crockett, Sherman, TX 75090 or the Sherman Noon Lions Club, P.O. Box 864,
Sherman, TX 75091.
