Sherman- Funeral services for Juakana 'Kaye' Rowen will
be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 3 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial will
follow at Friendship Cemetery. Mrs. Rowen, 76, passed away Tuesday, June
29 at the Homestead of Sherman.
Kaye was born July 13, 1933 in Cross Plains, TX to the late Charles
and Ora (McGlothlin) Graves. She graduated from Cross Plains schools and
attended Grayson County College. Mrs. Rowen worked for the City of Sherman
for many years and did volunteer work for adult literacy, Ombudsman, and
the Area Agency on Aging. She was a member of the Assembly of God. Her
heart was forever devoted to her children, grandchildren, and friends.
Kaye will be remembered for her unmatched strength and a little bit of

Mrs. Rowen is survived by two sons, Stephen Lee Rowen of Sweetwater,
Texas and James J. Rowen and wife Patti of Sherman; one daughter, Sheila
Rowen Benton and husband Rodger of Denton; brother, Bill Graves and wife
Creta of Scottsbluff, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Leininger,
Matthew Rowen, Zachary Rowen, Bethany Rowen, Rachel Benton, Samuel Benton,
and Rebekah Benton; two great grandchildren, Kyra and Kennedy Leininger;
and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents;
sister, Lucille Ragland; and brothers, Lynn Graves and 'Sonny Boy' Graves.
The family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at
Waldo Funeral Home.
