Guy Aanderson Sr.
Services for Guy William Anderson Sr., 76-year-old Van Alstyne barber, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel.  He died Thursday at Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas.
The Rev. Donald Johnson, retired Baptist minister of Fort worth, will officiate.  Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Anderson was born in Whitewright, the son of Willie Chastain Anderson and Annie Williams Anderson, and graduated from Whitewright High School in 1931.  He married Billie Faye Groce on June 20, 1941, in Los Angeles, Calif.
He worked as a barber before joining the Army during World War II.  After the war, he worked in civil service at Perrin Air Force Base for 15 years.  After Perrin closed, he returned to barbering in the Sherman area.  Since retirement, he raised cattle in Van Alstyne, and was a member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are his son, Guy William Anderson Jr. of Van Alstyne; daughter, Nancy Lucille Cayet of Dallas; brother, Elmer Anderson of Sherman; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. today, and other times at the Anderson residence in Van Alstyne, or the Rex Groce residence, 2111 Loy Drive in Sherman.

Departed on Mar. 13, 2007 and resided in Luella, TX.

Andy served in the U.S. Army during WW II in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart from injuries recieved during heavy fighting in the Black Forest. He was a member of the Luella Baptist Church and Purple Heart Chapter 612, VFW and DAV. He retired from Perrin Air Force Base and was a life long farmer and rancher in the Luella area.
