Lovejoy School was about eight miles east of Collinsville, Texas. Water was drawn from a well and fires were built by the teacher. The school building was cleaned by the teacher and the students. Children walked to school or rode horseback.
One time Bob and J. V. McWhorter got too close to a skunk on their way to school. They were promptly sent home upon arriving at the school building.
Among the teachers were Jewell Holloway, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Neeley, Mrs. Thornton, Jasper Wheeler, Lucille Scoggin and Dorothy Winn.
