EUGENIA WEBB THORNTON
SHERMAN - Eugenia Webb Thornton, 91, went
home to be with the Lord Friday, April 16, 2010 at Sherman Health Care
Center in Sherman.
Mrs. Thornton was born Oct. 27, 1918 in Hagerman,
the daughter of Hunt and Audrey (Hunter) Smith. She graduated from Murray
State College of Nursing in Tishomingo, Okla. Eugenia worked as a nurse,
and met and cared for "Slim" Thornton when he was injured in World War
II. They were married July 9, 1947 in Roswell, N.M.
The last church she attended was Hyde Park Presbyterian
Church with the rest of the Morrison/Smith family. She loved to attend
the Hagerman reunions and tried to come to the Morrison family reunions
when she was able. Eugenia was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Thornton is survived by her sons, Hubert Thornton
and wife LeAnn of Sherman, and Edward Thornton of Prosser, Wash.; granddaughter,
Wendy Thornton Case and husband Kevin of Denison;
great-grandchildren, Jaleb Case and Jaron Case of Denison and Tanner Lee
Thornton of Pottsboro; nieces,
Myrna Beth McGuire Walker and Sandra Lee Smith and
numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband,
Myron "Slim" Thornton;
brothers, Hubert Smith and Maurice Hunter Smith; sister,
Evelyn Irene Smith McGuire; and grandson, Lawrence Lee Thornton.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday,
April 20, 2010 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Dr. Ron Cunningham officiating.
Interment will follow at Hagerman Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fisher Funeral
Home, located at 604 W. Main in Denison.
