Services held for Austin
Services for Royce W. Austin, 78, a retired farmer, who died Saturday
at a Sherman hospital, were held Sunday at Flesher funeral Home.
Officiating were Roy Hazelton, retired minister of the Gunter Church of
Christ and the Rev. Rodney Cook, pastor of Elmont Baptist Church.
Burial was at Holloway Cemetery.
Mr. Austin was born in Texas, March 15, 1900, the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Willie Austin. He married Gladys Mae Blythe, May 17, 1919, in
Sherman.
Surviving are his wife, of Van Alstyne, and Ted Austin of Howe;
two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Mrs. Opal Clock, Bakersfield,
Calif.; and one half-brother, Leonard Austin of Waxahachie.
Out of town relatives attending were: Mr. and Mrs. E.R.Anderson,

GLADYS MAE AUSTIN
Van Alstyne - Services for Gladys Mae Austin, 83-year-old housewife
who died Saturday at her residence in Van Alstyne, were held Monday at
Flesher Funeral Chapel.
The Rev. David Griffin, Baptist minister, officiated, and burial
was in Holloway Cemetery.
Mrs. Austin was born in Texas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hardy
Blythe and married Royce W. Austin May 17, 1919 at Sherman.
She was a member of the Elmont Baptist Church.
Survivors are sons, Harold Austin of Van Alstyne and Ted Austin
of Howe; sister, Opal Anderson of Fort Worth; brothers, Sam Blythe of Palestine,
Leonard "Shorty" Blythe of Van Alstyne ahd Homer Blythe of Sherman; two
grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were Garth Burch, Loren Ferguson, Carl Lay, Robert Fielder,
Ray Lynn Blythe and Harlie Biggerstaff.
