    TOM BEAN

    1st Saturday Genealogy Group

    March 1, 2014
The 1st Saturday Genealogy Group in Tom Bean will be hosting a presentation about the old Grayson County Poor Farm by Dusty Williams, a noted local author and cemetery preservationist. The Farm, west of Sherman on what was then called Shady Oaks Road, was established by the county on land that had been the homeplace of the James H. and Elzabeth Jackson Vaden family. He will also give a brief introduction to his "Adopt-A-Pauper Program" and will allow time for what should be plenty of questions for him to answer!

Anyone with an interest in the Poor Farm, the history of Grayson County or the genealogy of the county is very welcome to attend. The Community Room is in the Tom Bean City Hall building, 201 S. Britton St. at 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. The public is always invited to our regular genealogy group meeting that will end at 4 P.M. For more information or directions call Lea Head 903-364-2403 or the library 903-546-6250 10 A.M.-5 P.M. We hope to see you on Saturday, March 1st. Come early and get a good seat!
