Texas Visitors Center at the TX-OK Border North of Denison Monument to Colbert's Ferry is at the entrance
Established about 1843 by Benjamin E. Colbert. Across it
came thousands of immigrants into Texas in the fifties. The stages of the
Southern Overland Line which provided mail and passenger service between
St. Louis and San Francisco, crossing 1858 to 1861. Abandoned in1931 when
a high bridge spanned Red River.
