IRA BARNES
VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Ira Albert Barnes, 78-year-old Van Alstyne
farmer and painter who died Thursday at a Gunter nursing home, will be
held at 2 p.m. Friday at Flesher Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Scott
Jordan of the First Baptist Church and the Rev. J.I. Gregory, Baptist minister,
will officiate. Burial will be in the Pilot Grove Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes was born in Weston, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William A.
Barnes, and was married to Mary Vandafriff on May 19m 1921, in Whitewright.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Van Alstyne Masonic
Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, of Van Alstyne; daughters, Marzell Garland
of Irving, and Corean Fisher of Houston; brother, W.A. Barnes of Van Alstyne
and Carl Barnes of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sister, Maude Starnes of Gunter;
three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

MARY V. BARNES
VAN ALSTYNE - Services for Mary Vandergriff Barnes, 88-year-old Van
Alstyne homemaker who died Friday at Medical Plaza Hospital in Sherman,
will be held at 2 p.m. today in Flesher Funeral Chapel here.
The Rev. Scott Jordan, pastor of the First Baptist Church in Gunter,
will officiate. Burial will be in Pilot Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Barnes was born in Texas, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim
Vandergriff. She married Ira Barnes in 1920.
Surviving are her daughters; Marzell Garland of Irving and Corean
Fisher of Livingston; sister, Mamie Ruth Johnson of Plano; three grandchildren
and seven great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Charles Barnes, Weldon Barnes, Darrel Starnes,
Garvin Barnes, Charlie Barrett and James Vandergriff.
