Dallas Morning News - 21 Dec 1955 - Sherman, Texas,-
Charlie Cannon , 79 , retired stockman and former Grayson County Commissioner, died Tuesday at a local hospital after four years illness.
Funeral services are to be held at 2pm Wednesday at the Waldo Chapel. Burial will be in a Tioga Cemetery.
Cannon was born in Van Alstyne , son of the late Mr. & Mrs. William R. Cannon.
Cannon was a life long resident of the county. He served as county commissioner from 1930 - 1934. He was Grayson County jailer from 1937 - to 1939, was county juvenile officer from 1945 until 1951 when ill health forced his retirement.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, William P. Cannon of Sherman and Charles E. Cannon of Dallas; three sisters, Mrs. F. M. Eckels of Whitewright, Mrs. Anna Mershon of Dallas and Mrs. Mary Kelley of Stanton; two brothers, Walter Cannon of Dublin and Will Cannon of New Mexico and two grandchildren.
