Gunter - Bernice Clara "Sister Mac" McClintock, 81-year-old retired
librarian of Gunter, formerly of Abilene, died Monday at North Texas Medical
Center in McKinney.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. today in Flesher Funderal Home
Chapel in Van Alstyne. Les Gleaves of the Water View Church of Christ in
Richardson will officiate. Burial will be in Van Alstyne Cemetery.
Mrs. McClintock was born in Eudora, Kan., the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Herman Schmidt. She graduated from Vinland, Kan. High School
in 1927. She did post-graduate work at Vinland High School, then
taught at the Welcome School District in Douglas County, Kan.
She was employed for three years as a clerk-typist at the University
of Kansas in Lawrence, where she made reports of the oil and gas developments
in Kansas for the Kansas Geological Survey.
Mrs. McClintock was a longtime employee of Abilene Christian University.
She began at ACU in 1950 as supervisor of the circulation department in
the Brown Library. In 1974, she received the Award of Merit from
the library staff, retiring in 1977. She was a member of the church
of Christ.
Surviving are her daughters, Maxine Hunt of Spring and Jane Colby
of Richardson; brother, Warren Schmidt of Vinland, Kan.; sister, Mildred
Nichols of Vinland, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
