R.S. BROWN
Robert S. Brown, 80, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W.S.
Roddy, Jr., of Bells, Texas. The body was brought to Van Alstyne
for burial Sunday. He is survived by three sons, Roy Brown, of Abilene;
Ray Brown, of Lowell, Arizona; and E.G. Brown, of El Paso. By three
daughters, Mrs. Ben Myers, of Abilene; Mrs. Dick Keith, of Van Alstyne,
and Mrs. Roddy, of Bells.
Mr. Brown was born in North Carolina in 1848. He came to Texas
fifty-five years ago, locating at Bryan, where he contracted for the bridge
building department of the Southern Pacific Railroad. He moved to
Van Alstyne in 1875, and lived here until 1907. During the past twelve
years he has made his home at Bells with his daughter. He was married
to Miss Fannie L. Prather, of Van Alstyne.
