Jesse Lee & Mark A. Sisk
Van Alstyne Leader
October 23, 1924
pg.10

Jesse Lee Sisk was born May 11, 1904 in the Van Alstyne community, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mart Sisk.  His childhood and youth were spent principally in this community.  A few years ago, he moved to Altus, Oklahoma, at which place he was converted, uniting with the Baptist church, afterward transferring his membership to the First Baptist church of Van Alstyne, of which body he remained a consistent member until his death.  For the past sixteen months, young Sisk has been working at Memphis, Texas, at which place he contracted typhoid fever, from which he died after an illness of about three weeks.  Some years ago, Mr. Sisk, the father, passed away.
Funeral services were held from the First Baptist church on Tuesday conducted by Rev. Virgil M. Hailey, the pastor. Interment was had at the local cemetery.
Jesse Lee Sisk was a young man of many excellent traits, and in his death there has passed from among the living, one whose life and example were well worthy of emulation.  He is survived by his mother, now Mrs. Harve Holder, and several brothers and sisters and other relatives, to all of whom the sympathy of the entire community is vouchsafed.
Pallbearers were as follows, chosen among the friends and associates of the deceased: Active - Paul McWilliams, Bill Echols, Jr., Joe Bybee, Holly Taylor, Edgar Sledge, Loye Huckaby.  Honorary - Jimmie Harris, Clyde Douglas, Gene Keith, Neland Gray, Chris Cotten, Travis Cotten.
The funeral services were attended by a large number of friends of the young man and of his family and the sorrow at his passing is felt by all who knew him.
