Former Mayor and City Councilman, Don Carlos Wallace,
90, of Guner died Wednesday evening, January 6, in a Sherman hospital.
Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, January 8 at the College Hill Church
of Christ in Gunter with burial in the Van Alstyne Cemetery, Flesher Funeral
Home directing.
He was born in Tennessee September 6, 1880, was a
retired farmer, ginner and grain dealer; member of the Presbyterian church,
had served on the Gunter school board 15 years and County Board of Trustees
for 12 years.
He married Hattie Mae Young December 12, 1912 in Trenton.
she died March 1, 1961.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Wilbur Probst,
Iowa Park; Mrs. Ray Spencer, Texas City; Mrs. Joe Webb, Columbus, Ga.;
Mrs. Ruben Pearce, Richardson; two sons, Joe Wallace of San Antonio; Foy
Wallace of Gunter; one sister, Mrs. Dora Hutcherson, of Trenton.
